Corporate Events & Fundraisers across Greater Kansas City

Are you planning a corporate event or fundraiser in Kansas City?

Kansas City books more corporate work than its size suggests, which means your guests have already sat through a lot of company evenings. They can tell inside the first minute whether this one is going to be different. That first minute is the whole risk.

Josh Weidner is a Kansas City magician who builds his performance around the people in front of him. Mingling magic while the room fills, then clean comedy magic from the stage, so your night is the one people bring up months later for the right reasons.

Years in corporate rooms have taught Josh what lands and what to stay away from. The material is clean before you have to ask, and nothing about the evening gets worked out on the fly.

Which Kansas City events does Josh work?

Company holiday parties, client-appreciation nights, service-award dinners, sales kickoffs, and charity auctions and fundraisers. The engineering, healthcare technology and financial services firms headquartered here account for a good share of it, alongside the convention calendar downtown.

Why interactive magic works in a Kansas City room

A band performs at your guests. A DJ performs for them. Interactive magic puts them in the middle of it, which is why the stories come back to the office on Monday instead of staying in the ballroom. Ten people or a thousand, the format changes to fit the room.

Add strolling close-up magic while guests arrive, put a comedy magic show in the main slot, hand Josh event hosting for the full evening, or take all three. It is written clean for a professional crowd and shaped around your company instead of pulled off a shelf.

Where Josh performs around Kansas City

Downtown and the Crossroads carry a lot of the corporate calendar, and the Johnson County side runs its own through Overland Park and Leawood. East of the river the suburbs keep a separate schedule of banquets and recognition nights, and Josh works both.

Common questions about booking a Kansas City magician

Do you perform in Kansas City?+
Yes. Josh performs corporate events, galas, holiday parties, and fundraisers throughout Kansas City and the Kansas City metro. That covers Overland Park, Leawood and Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee and Prairie Village, Independence, Lee's Summit and Blue Springs, plus Liberty, North Kansas City and Kansas City, Kansas.
Our team all knows each other already. Does that change the show?+
It makes it better. The set is built around the people in the room, and a room where everyone knows each other means the reactions land harder, because the guests watching know exactly who just got picked.
Do you work both the Missouri and Kansas sides?+
Yes. Josh treats greater Kansas City as one market, so a date in Overland Park or Leawood is booked exactly the same way as one downtown.
How much does it cost to hire a magician in Kansas City?+
Most corporate and gala bookings run $2,500 to $5,000. Where a date lands depends on the format, the guest count, and how long Josh is on. Most settle in the $2,500 to $4,000 range. The fee covers the performance, the planning calls, liability insurance, and material written around your organization.
How far in advance should we book?+
It depends more on the time of year than the type of event. 2 to 4 months out is normal. Peak dates, like weekends and the holiday season, can book up 6 to 12 months ahead. If your date is sooner than that it is still worth asking, because openings come up.
What format works best for our event?+
Three options: strolling close-up while guests arrive and mingle, a stage show once everyone is seated, or both. Strolling carries the early part of the night and breaks the ice when people do not know each other yet. The stage show is the moment the whole room shares. Most clients book the combination.
Can the show be customized for our company?+
Yes, and it is most of what makes the set land. Josh folds in the company name, the people the room knows, the product, and the references only your team will catch. That comes out of the planning call, so the more context you share, the more of it ends up on stage.
What size group does the show work for?+
Anywhere from a boardroom of 10 to a ballroom of 1000. Smaller rooms get a more conversational version of the show. Large rooms need staging and screens so the back of the room sees it properly.
Can Josh also host or emcee our event?+
Yes, and a lot of clients book it that way. Josh can run the whole program as host: opening the night, introducing speakers and award winners, covering the transitions, and keeping the schedule honest. The event hosting page covers how that works.
What if some of our guests do not want to participate?+
You're not really hiring a magician. You're hiring someone whose job is getting your guests interacting and enjoying themselves. Nobody is embarrassed, and nobody is pulled up in front of the room who isn't comfortable being there. The guests who would rather watch have just as good a night.
Is the material clean enough for our crowd?+
Yes. The whole act is built clean for a mixed professional room of executives, clients, and staff. The comedy comes from the magic and the guests who volunteer, never from putting someone on the spot.
What do you need for setup and sound?+
Strolling needs nothing but room to move. The stage show wants a performance area, a wireless headset mic, a handheld mic for volunteers, and a sound system the whole room can hear, plus about an hour to set before doors. Josh sends a full tech rider once the date is booked.
Do you carry insurance and provide a Certificate of Insurance?+
Yes. Many venues require a Certificate of Insurance before a performer is allowed on site. Josh carries liability coverage and provides a COI on request, usually the same day.
Do you perform outside Kansas City?+
Yes. Josh performs nationwide, so if your company runs events in more than one market the same show works in every one of them. The quote is all-in before anything is signed.
